Thank you to all who participated in the Understanding Risk (UR) Caribbean Conference! Held from May 27 – 31, 2019 in Barbados, UR Caribbean boasted close to 500 participants with representatives from over 20 Caribbean countries and abroad. The week opened with a keynote speech delivered by the Honorable Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley, followed by over 25 plenaries and technical sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 16 intensive workshops and trainings on Thursday and Friday.
UR Caribbean presents: “Voices of Resilience”
The conference attracted leading experts and practitioners from a wide range of sectors representing government agencies, the private sector, multilateral organizations, NGOs, research institutions, civil society, among others.
UR Caribbean was organized by the World Bank’s Caribbean Disaster Risk Management team and the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR), in partnership with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and the European Union (EU), and hosted by the Government of Barbados. This conference was co-financed by the European Union-funded Africa, Caribbean, Pacific – European Union (ACP-EU) and the Natural Disaster Risk Reduction (NDRR) Program and managed by the GFDRR.
