Description
This session attracted participants interested in the procurement and planning of smart cities, particularly in the context of developing countries.
Ambitious Smart-City projects that apply state-of-the-art digital informal technology (DIT) infrastructure are being planned and rolled out across a number of developing countries. Our specialist observation is that this is morphing the nature of risk and attracting new risks as well.
The investment and Digital infrastructure itself needs to be safe-guarded for risk arising from exposure to geo-physical as well as weather related hazards. The risk to the optimum performance of the infrastructure over the full life-cycle need to be planned and mainstreamed within the policy, procurement, design and operations thereby sustaining the confidence of citizens and investors.
This interactive session was facilitated by a multi-faceted team with practical experience in developing the policy, performance standards, technology and design integration aspects of Smart Cities.
