Description
Young scientists working across multiple disciplines in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) have huge potential to share and co-create knowledge to support evidence-based practices for DRR policy design, implementation, monitoring and review. However, there are limited accessible spaces/platforms for young scientists across regions and disciplines to meaningfully engage with each other, share knowledge and create innovative solutions for building resilience. For this reason, the Young Scientists Platform on DRR, facilitated by the UN Major Group of Children and Youth, was launched at the UNISDR Science and Technology Conference in January 2016.
This session provided an interactive space for the Young Scientists Platform on DRR to outreach to new members and partners, discussed the achievements and challenges so far in 2016, reviewed the implementation of the Young Scientists DRR Roadmap and planned new activities.
