Description
Friday, May 18, 9:00 – 10:45
Citizens and elected officials expect greater transparency and input to the processes occurring within their community. This desire to engage creates an opportunity to raise the community’s awareness of risk and engage with them to increase local resilience. But, how do you effectively engage and utilize these new resources and “sensors” most effectively? Learn how location intelligence can help you better understand and communicate risk to the community, and explore new techniques and innovative solutions to reach and interact with your community. We’ll also explore new frameworks that can guide the community discussion and how others have been successful with community engagement. During the session you will learn:
- How to personalize the understanding and communication of risk to citizens using maps and apps
- How to mobilizing citizens as sensors to inform your risk reduction strategies
- Utilizing existing frameworks to guide community activities with example best practices
- How the use of gaming to engage the community is building awareness of risk at a much earlier age
